Things I’ve found worth sharing.
Not a curated list of the best things on the internet. Just the stuff I’ve actually used, applied for, shown up to — and what I learned from it.
01 — milspouse scholarships
I applied for these. Here’s what happened.
Scholarships for military spouses are out there — more than most people know about. I’ve applied to several. I didn’t get all of them. Below is what I actually know about each one, including what the process felt like, what I wish I’d known, and whether I’d apply again (spoiler: yes, always).
NMFA — National Military Family Association
MyCAA — My Career Advancement Account
Think GREAT! Foundation
02 — volunteering
The volunteer group that became an unexpected friendship.
I didn’t go looking for community. I signed up because it felt like the right thing to do. What I found was something I didn’t know I needed. If you’re a military spouse trying to figure out how to plug in somewhere that actually matters, this is where I’d start.
Blue Star Families
[Your experience here — how you got involved, what surprised you, what you’d say to someone on the fence about showing up.]
03 — the spreadsheet
1,000 Rejections — the actual spreadsheet.
The spreadsheet is simple. One row per attempt. The date, what I applied for, the outcome, and one honest note about what I learned or felt. That’s it. No formulas. No color coding. Just a record of showing up anyway.
You can download a blank version below — same format I use, nothing added. Start wherever you are. Row one doesn’t have to be impressive.
